It is really easy to make but tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen , Dopiaza actually means onions .So grab your trolly and get the following
- lb chicken breast, cubed
6 small onions, halved
3 bay leaves
8 green cardamom pods
3 dried red chilies
8 black peppercorns
3 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large tomatoes, chopped
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil or 3 tablespoons ghee
1 inch ginger, chopped
2 onions, chopped
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
Now its time to hit the kitchen with this great Indian dish
Heat 2 tablespoons oil and cook the halved onions until tender and translucent. Remove and keep aside.
Include the rest of the oil and saute chilies, cardamom, cloves, the bay leaves and peppercorns.
Include the sliced onions this time, together with ginger and the garlic, and saute for 3 minutes if they crackle.
Put salt and the ground spices and cook for 3 minutes.
Increase the water and tomatoes and simmer five minutes until sauce begins to thicken.
Increase the chicken parts and continue to prepare for 12-15 minutes.
Include the reserved small halved onions and after that cover and cook to get a further 8-10 minutes until chicken has cooked through
